UNI-NORM interface ? ultra compact tool with USB connector
11x modes completely integrated in the OBD2 plug, one does not need an expensive OBD2 connection kit.
Petrol-fueled
motorcars since 2000 (year of construction) and diesel cars since 2003
(year of construction) are OBD2-capable. With the included protocols
CAN / ISO9141-2 / KWP2000 / VPWM and PWM all of the cars which are
licensed in the EU can be diagnosed. Ford cars from 1996-2004 are
mainly equipped with PWM. America imports employ VPWM. Newer cars since
2004 (year of construction) mainly employ the CAN protocol.
Modern notebooks rarely have a COM interface. That is why all our interfaces have an integrated USB-2.0 (high-speed) interface.
The protocol is selected automatically and is transparent for the user software. Within two seconds the protocol will be recognized and connected. If you press the included button when you plug the interface into the OBD-2 socket, the interface switches to the software platform VAG.com and acts like a KKL interface.

WinALDL - Supported ECM types
I have tried to make a list of vehicles supported by WinALDL,
and what selection to use in the configuration dialog.
This is not a complete list, and the ECM part numbers may not
match all the vehicles listed for that ECM.
In some cases many different ECM's use the same serial data,
and one ECM can send different data in different applications.
If you have more information, please send me a mail and I will try to correct this list.
I have very little information about the carbed applications, and what ECM's they use.

160 Baud ALDL Hardware Interface
The ECM produces the data signal at either a 12 Volt or 5 volt level that must be inverted and converted to RS232. One simple scheme is to feed the ALDL data into a single transistor level converter that inverts the data to produce a pseudo RS232 level (varies between 12 Volts and 0). This is connected to the receive data line of a serial port to be processed by the PC's UART.
R3
When you build the cable first try without the R3 resistor. That works for most
vehicles. Some vehicles need a 10k resistor to start transmitting data but the resistor
will change the ECM's mode. It will have a high idle and spark knock retard will be disabled.
That is the reson why you should not use the R3 resistor if it works without it.
R4
With this resistor installed the interface will NOT work with fuel injected vehicles.
This resisror should ONLY be used with some carbed vehicles that does not work with the standard interface.
If you need this resistor then you probably have to use the 4800 baud setting in the configuration too.
On some computers it is possible to use the DTR pin on the serial port as 12 Volt source, and that is what I did.

You don't need a code reader for the '95 Civic. There is a service check
connector behind the carpet under the glove box (above the ECU) The
service check connector is 2-pin. There is a 3 pin data-link connector
in the same harness, and they are both taped to a wire harness above the
ECU. Pull both connectors down and short the two pins of the 2-pin
connector with a paper clip or a piece of wire, then turn on the
ignition. The error codes will be flashed on the MIL in the instrument
cluster. Long flashes are the 10's, short flasher are the 1's (4 long
flashes and 2 short flashes means 42). Multiple different codes may be
flashed after another. After all codes are flashed out, it starts over
again with the first error code.
When you have read the codes, turn off the ignition and remove the paper
clip.
